Before You Fly

Carry-On or Personal Item? Here's the Difference.

Overhead-Bin Carry-On

The larger bag stored in the overhead compartment. This is the category HARLIE 2.0 is generally designed around.

Under-Seat Personal Item

A smaller bag — a purse, compact backpack or laptop bag — that fits under the seat in front of you. Its size limit is usually smaller.

Even if HARLIE falls within an airline's carry-on limit, that doesn't automatically make it a free personal item.

What If I'm Bringing the Roller Edition?

Both use the same garment-duffel design. Roller Edition adds a detachable rolling system, so its full configuration may measure differently.

Before boarding, simply detach the roller and store it inside your HARLIE.

Either way, check your packed bag against your airline’s baggage allowance before you fly.

Before You Head to the Airport

Four Things Worth Checking Before Your Flight.

  1. Check the Airline's Size Limit

Compare your bag's exterior dimensions with your flight's allowance.

  2. Check What Your Ticket Includes

Some fares include an overhead carry-on. Others require an extra purchase.

  3. Measure Your Bag After Packing

A soft bag can change shape when full. Measure it packed, attachments included.

  4. Check the Official Rules Again

Rules vary by airline, aircraft and fare — and can change before you fly.

A little checking before your trip can help you avoid a surprise at the gate.

Good to Know Before You Fly

Your Carry-On Questions, Answered.

Is HARLIE approved by every airline?

No travel bag can be assumed to meet every airline's rules. HARLIE is designed for carry-on-friendly travel, and this guide compares its dimensions with published limits.

Does TSA approve HARLIE as a carry-on?

TSA handles security screening. Airlines set their own carry-on size and allowance rules — passing security doesn't guarantee boarding.

Can HARLIE go under an airplane seat?

Mostly yes, but personal-item rules vary. Don't assume a fully packed HARLIE qualifies — compare its packed size with your airline's current requirements.

Will it fit in the overhead bin?

Yes, it’s a carry-on size because its dimension is 21’ x 9’ x 12’ inches and it meets TSA carry-on rules so we can bring it up on plane and put it inside overhead bin.

Can I bring Roller Edition onboard?

Check the full configuration you'll board with — exterior size, rolling attachments and weight — against your airline's rules.

What if I'm flying with two different airlines?

Check the rules for each flight, including connections and partner-operated flights.

Does packing more change whether the bag fits?

It can. Soft bags expand when full. Always measure the packed bag.

What if my airline isn't listed?

Check the operating airline's official policy, or email HARLIE support with your airline, fare and bag edition.
